4 Wheel Drive / ATV Team |

A vital part of this organization is our Four Wheel Drive Unit.
The 4x4 Unit provides the ability to transport search personnel to remote areas of our
county that may not normally be accessible due to degraded weather or road conditions,
and provides an additional means to transport out the victims that are found or injured.
Our unit is a valuable part of the SAR team due to our off-road experience, and our knowledge of the roads and trails in the remote areas of the county. Because of this knowledge and experience on the ground, we are even called upon from time to time to fly along as observers with the SAR Air Squadron.
The 4x4 Unit, as with all of SAR, is composed of volunteer members who turn their outdoor enthusiasm into a powerful tool to save lives. Members bring their vehicles and talents to search and rescue operations, and spend a considerable amount of their time between callouts, training and sharpening their skills. To the outsider this many seem like a lot of hard work, but to 4x4 members, it's a work of love, and just doing what they do naturally.

SAR also owns, maintains, and trains on a number of ATVs. Members who come to the training sessions, and get their certification on these vehicles, may use them on search and rescue operations. If you have your own ATV, and can make it available on callouts, your out of pocket expenses are covered. And we are interested in having a wide range of vehicles available such as jet-skies, snow-mobiles, etc.
